    FireSmart Grant - NEWS RELEASE

    Partners for Fire Prevention.

    The City of Campbell River and We Wai Kai First Nation have partnered together to improve FireSmartTM initiatives to help protect our homes and community from wildfire.

    A grant was awarded in the amount of $85,577 through the Union of BC Municipalities FireSmartTM Community Funding & Supports program for 2022.

    “By partnering with the We Wai Kai First Nation, we were able to maximize funding opportunities and create efficiencies,” says Thomas Doherty, Fire Chief. “Together, we are using the grant funding for our community to provide enhanced Fire & Life Safety education related to wildfires, using FireSmartTM principles.”
