The Freedom of Information and Protection of Privacy Act helps to make public bodies more accountable and to protect personal privacy by:
- giving the public a right to access records, where permissible, and
- giving individuals a right of access to, and a right to request correction of, personal information about themselves.
The Act applies to all records in the custody or under the control of a public body, subject to exceptions identified in the Act. the City of Campbell River is a public body as defined in the Freedom of Information and Protection of Privacy Act.
Routine Requests
Records such as agendas and minutes of open meetings, bylaws, policies and procedures and information related to your property are often available on our public website or upon request. Please contact the appropriate department for access to these types of information.
Formal Requests
Should you wish to make a request for access to records in the custody or under the control of the City of Campbell River, please fill out the the Freedom of Information Request Form.
The Act allows a maximum of 30 business days for us to respond to your request, except in specific cases where the time period may be extended. Please be aware that fees may be charged for the records requested, and a fee estimate will be provided once the request has been reviewed.
