Campbell River average water use triples during the months of July and August. Actual consumption during peak periods (4 - 7 a.m. and 7 - 11 p.m.) on hot days exceeds system capacity, mainly due to lawn and garden irrigation. If we don’t reduce peak summer demands, new infrastructure will need to be built to handle the excessive demand and this cost will need to come from tax-payers. The City is promoting efficient use of water to extend the life of existing infrastructure and defer the need for expensive capital upgrades.
