    INTERESTED IN RUNNING FOR A SEAT ON CITY COUNCIL THIS FALL?

    Individuals interested in running in this fall’s local government election can get started on their paperwork now. 

    The nomination period begins at 9 a.m. on Tuesday, August 30, 2022, and ends on Friday, September 9, 2022 at 4 p.m. Nomination packages will be available at City Hall front reception or can be downloaded at the links below. 

    Local government elections for mayor and six councillors will be held Saturday, October 15, 2022 with advanced polls held on Wednesday, October 5, and Wednesday, October 12. City Council members will be elected for a four-year term.  

    To qualify for nomination, election and to hold office as a member of Council, an individual must be:  

    • A Canadian citizen 
    • 18 years of age of older on general voting day (October 15)  
    • A resident of British Columbia for at least six months immediately before the day nomination papers are filed; and  
    • Not disqualified by the Local Government Act or any other enactment from voting in an election in British Columbia or from being nominated for, being elected to, or holding office.  
    An optional virtual session for anyone considering running for Council will be held on Monday, August 29 at 7 p.m. Register online at: https://bit.ly/3QqYsfW
