    Residents urged to help reduce water use to avoid increased community watering restrictions

    Watering RestrictionsWith summer here, and a heatwave in full swing, the City of Campbell River is asking residents to reduce non-essential water use to help avoid stage two watering restrictions, which limit watering lawns, gardens, trees and shrubs through irrigation to once a week.

    “With the hot weather, demand on Campbell River’s water consumption has increased, and we’re now at the point where households helping to conserve water can delay the requirement for stage two watering restrictions,” explain Steven Roehr, the City’s water manager.

    “Even with a supply of water stored in the lakes behind Campbell River, the system of pipes and pumps limits how much water we can deliver throughout the community, and we monitor water use and set watering restrictions to ensure we have water available in the system for firefighting,” Roehr adds. Read more...
