    Storm Warning!

Please be careful and watch for localized flooding from winter storms!

With more heavy rain, high tides and strong wind in the forecast over the weekend and early next week, Campbell River could experience temporary road closures in some areas of downtown and along Willis Road due to localized flooding.

Drivers are reminded to please respect any temporary road closures.
This type of localized flooding is not unusual for this time of year.

Localized flooding is caused by the combination of high tides, heavy rain and strong wind generating high waves that prevent storm drains from emptying water off the roads in the area.

The water drains from local roads when the tide recedes.

As a precautionary measure, BC Hydro will release more water down the Campbell River from John Hart Lake (the water reservoir) to manage water reservoir level. Please keep a safe distance from the falls and river bank.
