The BC Energy Step Code is an optional compliance path in the BC Building Code that local governments may use, if they wish, to incentivize or require a level of energy efficiency in new construction that goes above and beyond the requirements of the BC Building Code. Builders may voluntarily use the BC Energy Step Code as a new compliance path for meeting the energy-efficiency requirements of the BC Building Code.
The City of Campbell River has chosen not to implement the BC Energy Step Code as it will be adequately addressed through future editions of the BC Building Code.
At various stages of construction, you must have the work inspected and approved. The required inspections for your permit will be listed on your Building Permit placard, which is to be placed in your building for the Building Official sign off on once the inspection has been completed.
