Project Details at a Glance
The Refresh Downtown Strategy was completed in 2017 to prepare advanced plans for upgrades through the downtown core, which could be easily implemented when opportunities arose in the area. When it proceeds, the Beech Street Renewal upgrades will include:
- Infrastructure updates: new water, sewer and storm mains and services
- New roadways: new roadway constructed to meet Urban Local Commercial Standards
- Pedestrian-friendly upgrades: lighting, crosswalks, boulevards
- Aesthetics: new surface finishes matching the adjacent Downtown Revitalization Project (including new lighting, tree planting and landscaping
The project had been proposed to proceed in Summer 2023, coinciding with the private development of 325 Beech Street. With that project no longer proceeding, the Beech Street Upgrades will be parked until an opportunity for efficiencies arises in the future. There is no specific timeline at this point.
Parking Changes
Parking at 325 Beech Street will remain unchanged at this time.
Timeline
While plans for these upgrades are part of the City’s long-term Refresh Downtown Strategy, construction work will not proceed at this time.
