Fire up your free time! Fire Rescue provides schedule of events to meet popular demand

Mark your calendar, Campbell River! Fire Rescue is making time to show you the ropes this month.

“The last couple of years, the Fire Rescue open house has had huge attendance, and we’re expecting a great turn out again this year,” says fire chief Ian Baikie. “The demonstrations and activities like the 75-foot ladder climb, fire hose operation and cutting apart cars with the jaws of life have been so popular that we’re scheduling some of them this year to help people plan their day.”

Join the fun from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. on Saturday, September 13 at the No.1 Fire Station, located at 13th Ave. and Dogwood St.

Along with the hands-on activities for the public, and fire safety displays, the schedule of events includes:

    • Concession 11 a.m. to 1 p.m.
    • Auto Extrication Rescue Demo 11 a.m.
    • House Fire Attack Demo 1 p.m.

Due to popular demand, the aerial ladder climb will be limited to 50 people on a first-come, first-served basis. Participants must be at least five years of age.

The concession will serve hamburgers and hotdogs supplied by Quality Foods, with all proceeds going to Cameryn’s Cause.
