    Notice to Electors of the City of Campbell River of Alternative Approval Process Opportunity - Area 'D' Boundary Extension Proposal

    The City of Campbell River is seeking approval to extend the municipal boundaries of the City of Campbell River southbound to include a portion of the Electoral Area ‘D’ of the Strathcona Regional District as shown on the attached map.

    The Community Charter requires that council must obtain the approval of the electors of the municipality in relation to a proposed boundary extension. Approval of the electors may be obtained by an Alternative Approval Process (AAP).

    The AAP process states that the City may proceed with the boundary extension unless at least 10% (2,401) of the estimated number of electors in the City of Campbell River have signed and submitted individual elector response forms against the proposal by the deadline set out below. The number of eligible electors in the City of Campbell River is estimated to be 24,011.

    Elector Response Forms

    (AAP) elector response forms will be accepted only if they are in the form established by the City of Campbell River or an accurate copy of the form. The forms are available at the Office of the City Clerk at City Hall and on the website at www.campbellriver.ca starting on Friday, May 30th. 

    For an elector response form to be accepted, it MUST:

    • Be submitted by a qualified registered elector of the City of Campbell River;
    • Include the full name of the elector;
    • Include the residential address of the elector;
    • Be signed by the elector;
    • If applicable, state the address of the property in relation to which the person is entitled to register as a non-resident property elector; and
    • Be submitted to the City Clerk before the deadline.

    NOTE: a person must not sign any alternative approval process elector response form more than once and may not withdraw his or her name from the elector response form after the deadline for submission of the elector response forms has passed.

    Deadline

    The deadline for submitting signed elector response forms opposing the Area ‘D’ boundary extension proposal is no later than 4:00 pm, Monday, July 21, 2014. Elector response forms must be in the possession of the City Clerk by this time, as postmarks WILL NOT be accepted as date of submission.  Forms may be mailed or dropped off to the attention of the City Clerk, 301 St. Ann’s Road, Campbell River BC, V9W 4C7, faxed to 250.286.5760, or emailed to info@campbellriver.ca.

    Information related to the boundary extension is available on the City’s website at www.campbellriver.ca or copies are available for public inspection at the City Hall, 301 St. Ann’s Road, Campbell River, BC during regular office hours of 8:30 am to 4:30 pm, Monday through Friday.
